Cardanol

A versatile building block
The structure of cardanol, the main component distilled from CNSL, and descriptions of the common modifications and benefits of each of the components of cardanol.

Cardanol, the main component of distilled CNSL, is the foundation of Cardolite’s product portfolio. Through precise distillation and refinement, we ensure consistent quality products in a variety of applications.

This natural alkylphenol combines an aromatic ring for chemical and thermal resistance, a reactive hydroxyl group for strong adhesion and low-temperature curing, and a long aliphatic chain for flexibility, moisture resistance, low viscosity, and corrosion protection.

Cardanol is the key ingredient in our epoxy curing agents, diluents, polyols, and modifiers—including the USDA Certified Biobased NX-202x Series—and continues to gain traction as a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based materials.
